I got this to replace my "Trash Bowl" I use when cooking. I normally have a bowl just to throw the egg shells or vegetable discards. Then I found myself needing that bowl and so it all would go onto a paper towel until I threw it in the trash. Now with this I set it up with a grocery store bag and all my trash goes into it and then the bag goes in the trash once I am done with my prepping. I find it is also handy for when I sort through mail after a vacation and all the shredding goes into it and the rest can go into the regular trash
